“Colour, its physical and psychological impact, is at the heart of my work which is about the parts of life we do not understand, its mystery and poetry. I know at the outset what I want to achieve, but the resolution is often a surprise to me. That is for me the act of creation, where the created comes through a dialogue between the artist and the work – it cannot be defined or confined by words but it can be experienced and this is the crucial element in all the paintings and prints that I make.”
